Researching with the body in mind… Why does it matter?
As Tatiana said in this video, understanding why embodiment is not just beneficial, but essential for truly human-centred research is a game-changer.
When we integrate embodiment into research, we unlock new ways to improve outcomes, enhance the user experience, and inspire more innovative, human-focused solutions in both design and inquiry.
In this post, we’ll explore some of the key benefits and show why embodiment isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s vital for creating research that’s meaningful, imaginative, and beneficial for everyone involved.
We Live Through Our Bodies
As human beings, we experience the world through our bodies. They have so much to tell us and play a central role in how we feel, think, connect, and make decisions.
When we pay attention to how people feel—and what their bodies are expressing—we uncover insights and emotional responses that might otherwise go unnoticed. This deeper understanding of human nature allows us to design more impactful, sensitive, and genuinely empathetic solutions.
Did You Know 80% of Communication is Non-Verbal?
Roughly 80% of our communication happens without words. That’s right—most of what we express comes through body language, facial expressions, posture, and tone. Fascinating, isn’t it?
When we truly understand this, we can begin to design experiences, products, and services that create real emotional resonance and foster authentic connection.
The Body Doesn’t Lie
Even when words are vague or filtered, the body tells the truth. Non-verbal cues often reveal what someone is reallythinking or feeling, helping us reduce misunderstandings and access more honest, valuable insights.
For instance, a person might say they like a product—but their body language may say otherwise. By learning to recognise and respond to these cues, we can better meet people’s real needs, enrich their experiences, and build solutions that actually make a difference.
In Summary, by embracing the body as a source of knowledge, applying body–mind psychology, and sharing insights in engaging, visual ways, we transform information into meaningful stories that spark action and connection.

Together, we can create solutions that feel right, speak to the heart, and improve the lives of the people we serve.
Thanks so much for your interest in Embodiment Research.
All the best,
